The Streets Bleed Murder Box Set Page 5

  Chapter 5

  NeNe

  Two Months Later

Her wet body emerged from the shower and she wrapped a beach towel around her frame. Her long hair was dripping wet as she stepped in front of the full-length mirror to get a good look at her baby face.

NeNe had full lips, a small, cute nose, and a beauty mark on her chin. She had naturally long eyelashes with sexy honey-hazel eyes. NeNe wondered why so many guys failed at making her happy. She wondered why she wasn’t married with kids or even just had a man to run home to like her sister did. NeNe had a near perfect body, a flat stomach with nice C-cup breasts. She had a small waist, nice hips, and a round, juicy ass just right for her body. One of her best assets was her stance. She was bowlegged, stood 5’2”, and only weighed 125 pounds soaking wet.

She entered her bedroom and music could be heard blasting from the living room. The clock read 10:30 p.m., so she only had fifteen minutes to get dressed. She first put baby lotion all over her body, and then slipped into her lace panties and bra set. Tonight she decided to wear her jean skirt outfit by Allure with the Allure sandals to match.

NeNe quickly turned when her bedroom door flew open to find Erica all jazzed up and ready to leave.

“Girl, come the fuck on,” Erica said. “It’s my nigga’s birthday, and you want me to be late?”

“Here I come,” NeNe replied, combing her long curly hair down.

She wanted it to hang loose tonight. She grabbed her lipgloss and Allure pocketbook.

Tonight was Kash’s birthday party, hosted at Club 321 on Martin Luther King Drive. She knew it would be a wild night out and vowed to not let anyone get under her skin with the unwanted attention she got.

NeNe and Erica climbed into Kash’s Range Rover. Erica cranked it up and blasted the music, which NeNe quickly turned down with the remote. She never understood why people rode around with such loud music in their ears.

“Bitch, I’m balling tonight,” Erica boasted. “I might smoke me a blunt.”

NeNe shook her head at her older sister. Erica was the type of female who always attracted street dudes even though she was a bookworm. She had never dated the hard-working type, unlike NeNe, who had tried all flavors of men, yet nothing seemed to work for her.

Erica used to say NeNe wanted too much from the guys she dated and intimidated them with her stubborn ways and beauty. She was almost always demanding. NeNe wasn’t always the mean girlfriend. At one point in her life she was innocent. Her very first boyfriend played her so bad that she wanted to kill herself. She caught him going out with her best friend. Her second boyfriend popped her cherry and in the end broke her heart. Her third boyfriend was killed, so before she jumped into relationships, she dated and demanded. She was also very picky about whom she dated.

Plus school was a help to her, because her main focus was on obtaining her degree. She loved the job she had, so it kept her busy. Mostly she chatted on MySpace or talked over the phone with guys until she felt comfortable, then they’d date. Dating wasn’t so important to her. She was twenty-three years of age and had one year remaining in school with no kids. She wasn’t happy, but she was content.

It took them almost an hour to get to the club. The parking lot was jam-packed with cars and filled with people coming and going. It was a Saturday night, and it was about to be a long one.

Erica drove the Range Rover around to where the V.I.P. parking was located and showed the parking attendant her pass. Both the girls jumped out and strolled past the line heading toward the door. NeNe could hear the remarks from the guys in the line. Erica gave the bouncer at the door the pass and she and NeNe were led inside the crowded club.

As they made their way toward the V.I.P. section, a guy grabbed NeNe’s arm and pulled her to a stop. She turned around to find this young dude with dirty dreads and brown golds in his mouth, holding a bottle of Hennessy.

“What’s happenin’? You fuckin’ wit’ da mob?” the guy asked her.

She took in his attire. He wore black pants and a black shirt with the letters GF on the front.

“No,” she directly stated, pulled her arm from his grip, and then walked off.

She found her sister at the entrance to the V.I.P. section, so she quickly followed. The room was well placed. It was easy to spot Kash and his crew, who were at least twenty deep with just as many bottles of all types of liquor.

NeNe saw Kash stand up with a blunt hanging from his lips and a bottle in one hand. He reached out to Erica with his free hand and snatched her into his embrace.

“Happy birthday, Kash,” NeNe said loud enough for him to hear.

She waved and he nodded his head to assure her his thanks.

  Gangsta

When NeNe first walked through the door of the V.I.P. area behind Erica, he did not recognize her until he noticed that stance when she stopped moving. Gangsta was instantly captivated once again, and then he vividly remembered she gave him a ride home some months ago. He forgot to get at her, and him seeing her in that jean skirt made him hate himself for slipping on this beautiful lady.

When she stopped at the table and spoke to Kash, her honey-hazel eyes somehow met his own, but she did not smile and she did not speak. She just politely waved her hand to indicate she remembered him. Again, he hated himself because she gave him the phone number and he didn’t use it.

“What’s up, Erica sister? Ahh…” Gangsta spoke as he was trying to think of her name, but couldn’t get it right.

“My name is NeNe, honey,” she stated and took a seat next to her sister who was nestled under Kash.

Gangsta could tell by his crew that he had to make a move on her before anybody else. All eyes were on her, and even though she waved to him, he knew to move in for the kill.

“Wat’cha been up too?” he asked, clearing the air after a minute of thought.

  “Nothing much, just school.”

“You gave me da wrong number, you know.”

Gangsta sat up from the leather seat and leaned over so she could hear him better. NeNe looked at him a second and shook her head.

“I did not. You just never called,” she spoke and took a sip of the drink she had.

“I did hit yo’ line. I promise.”

  “Don’t lie.”

“Give me yo’ number so I can lock it in,” Gangsta said.

“What happened to the first number I gave you? It’s still the same.”

“Man, I called and it was the wrong number.” He smiled because he couldn’t believe how she was acting.

NeNe turned toward Kash and her sister to ask them a question.

“Does your friend always lie?” NeNe asked.

“He’s solid,” Kash defended his partna as the entire group of people agreed.

“I should have known,” she stated.

She rolled her eyes and blushed just a bit.

“Come here,” Gangsta said, and then waved her over to the spot he patted next to himself. “Come sit by me.”

“Ha ha,” NeNe said to let him know she thought he must be trying to be funny.

Gangsta stood up from his spot and looked to Veedo, who was next to her and draped down in Polo gear with the big horse and man on it. He got the picture and stood so that he could trade places with Gangsta.

“Can I please call you tonight?” he asked as he sat beside her and passed her his phone.

She pushed it back to him.

“Yes, but you should have the number already.”

  She was being stubborn.

“Man, I’m tellin’ you I called a couple times,” Gangsta protested.

“A couple time, huh?” NeNe turned to ask.

  “Hell, yes.”

“What’s my area code?” she demanded to know.

“Man—” he started to say, but was stuck because when she wrote her number down he never even glanced at it. Gangsta had moved from his mother’s crib a long time ago, so knew he couldn’t and wouldn’t find it. “Man, I
think it’s 678.”

“Wrong,” she said and tried to get up from sitting by him, but Gangsta took hold of her arm and prevented her from leaving.

“Look, what’s up? I’m try’na get at you when I finish up my nigga’s party. How about that?”

“What’s yo’ number, honey?” NeNe asked in reply.

“Where’s yo’ phone?” he asked her back.

She passed him a Blackberry. It took him a quick second to get to her contacts and program in his number, then text himself so he would have her info. He passed it back, and at the same time he saw some commotion in the rear part of the V.I.P. section. Dank was involved. Everybody moved when Gangsta excused himself to moved toward the back. Two dudes were holding Dank, and a girl was being helped up by two more guys.

“Man, we don’t want no problems,” one of the guys said. “Everythang straight,” he assured, and they led the girl out of V.I.P. Gangsta and Kash got on either side of their partna and pulled him away from the drama.

After they calmed down Dank, they lit up more blunts. Gangsta put his attention back on NeNe. She was still acting stubborn, but he kind of adored that.

Gangsta almost had his shit together. He wasn’t near where he wanted to be, but he indeed was on his way. The ransom with Dinky got them seventy pounds of loud and a 138 grand in cash. Cris had sold Dinky out and left him for dead. He bailed out on poor Dinky, leaving him no choice but to give up his address. Gangsta, Kash, and Dank all took the chance and went to Dinky’s mother’s house. Dinky had promised them his personal stash for his life.

“Please don’t kill me, my nigga. It’s yours,” Dinky said while he pointed to his stash in the basement of his mother’s house. The crew had everybody in the house tied up except Dinky. Dank wasted no time killing him with a headshot. Kash and Gangsta had to stop Dank from going up the stairs to kill Dinky’s mother and younger sister.

“We got on masks, shawty, and they tied up. Let’s just get this shit and go,” Gangsta said.

He was smart enough not to sell his product. What he did was lay his half on Veedo, and he went to the country parts of Georgia to slang. They had a trap apartment in Bankhead Courts where he sold x-pills and lean. He had a major plug with Pat Man, who was a guy from Perry Homes, so Gangsta was doing okay for himself.

They enjoyed the rest of the party, and everybody left the club in peace. Gangsta even was successful at getting a quick hug from NeNe.

  Dank

It was a gloomy Sunday morning, and he could still feel the effects of the party from last night. The many drinks, blunts, and pills had given him a major hangover.

He was sitting at the red light on Bankhead in front of Overlook Atlanta. He had his girl with him, who was asleep on the passenger’s side after getting off of work, but she still looked as beautiful as ever.

Dank was content now more than he had ever been in life, and he had her to thank for it. She was a true rider and loyal. Even when she knew Dank was up to no good, she stayed down and faithful. Tiffany was one girl that didn’t cross him.

Time and time again she had held him down, so now that he had money he spared no expense when she wanted something. Things were looking good for him and his team. He put up a weed trap in Hollywood Court and West Chester off Simpson with nothing but loud. The spots were doing numbers, and Dank had the pressure down on a lot of niggas. Nobody dared to try him, so he had hos selling the loud while he ran the streets with his partnas taking money from pussies. He reached over and touched Tiffany’s leg as he was about to pull off from the light.

Dank did not notice the red van that pulled up beside them, and he did not notice the gun until it was too late.

The sounds from a chopper and semi-automatic machine gun filled the air.

Boom! Boom! Bhhalac! Bhhalac! Boom! Boom! Boom! Bhhalac!

Dank smashed his foot on the gas. He ran the red light and a truck hit him, then the truck hit a pole. The red van pulled up beside him again.

Boom! Boom! Bhhalac! Bhhalac! Boom! Boom! Boom!

Shots fired, the van peeled off down Bankhead.

As the shots rang out, Dank could feel his side go numb with pain. He saw his girl was hit — she was leaning over the console with blood pouring out of the top of her head. When he tried to pull himself up by the steering wheel, a sharp pain ran up his neck. Blood fell from his head and filled his eyes. He heard people screaming, horns blowing, cars speeding away, and people stopping to be nosy. The crazy thing is, no one tried to help.

Dank reached for the door, but as soon as he did, his chest felt like it exploded. He couldn’t breathe any longer, and his eyes were getting heavy. He started to hear bells in his ears. He couldn’t bear the pain anymore, so he passed out completely.

  Kash

  “Say what? When? What happened?”

“He in Grady Hospital, and the girl is dead.” The caller told Kash she saw everything when it happened because she was at the gas station across the street.

Kash was hungover from last night, but quickly jumped up when he hung up the phone. He stumbled to his pants, and the movement made Erica lift her head from the pillow.

  “What’s wrong, babe?”

“Dank got shot a few minutes ago,” Kash said as he put on his shoes.

Erica sat up with a shocked look on her face.

  “Is he okay?” she asked.

“I don’t know, but his girl was killed,” Kash replied, and then rushed to get his gun, car keys, and some small bills.

His mind was moving a million miles per hour. He left the room and found NeNe on the sofa eating Golden Grahams and watching Cartoon Network. He did not bother to speak and simply walked out the door.

Inside the Range Rover, he dialed Gangsta’s phone number and wondered where this sudden beef came from.

“Whoa,” Gangsta said when he picked up.

“Shawty, Dank just got gunned down. He at Grady. His ho is dead. I’m on my way to his momma’s house now,” Kash said.

“Okay, I’ll meet you there,” Gangsta replied, and he hung up.

Kash wondered how he was gonna walk into Ms. Smith’s house and tell her Dank got shot. She would instantly assume he and Gangsta were the reason because she always did.

It was times like those when Gangsta and Kash questioned each other about the things she would say concerning Dank and their relationship. It was as if she thought the two were bad influences on Dank, but when Kash and Gangsta met Dank, he was six months in on an 18-month sentence already.

Dank’s mother stayed in Fairburn, GA, so it took longer than he cared to drive there, but he made it, and moments later was met by Gangsta. Kash was the first out of the ride, followed by Gangsta. They both dapped each other, holding looks of concern on their faces. Ms. Smith’s home was well built and kept up. It was a nice area with very beautiful surroundings. Kash knocked on the door once on the porch. It took a minute for the door to finally crack open, and Ms. Smith peeked her head out. She looked both the boys over and spoke.

  “Where is my son?”

Suddenly Kash’s mouth went dry, not knowing what to say. Gangsta stepped in.

“We just got a call, Ms. Smith, saying someone shot Dank and he is at Grady. We came to tell you to get down there and let us know what’s going on so we can help him out. Dank got caught with a lot of drugs, also, and some guns. We just wanna help.”

“So, this is about drugs?” Ms. Smith asked. Now panic was clearly in her voice. She fully opened the door.

“We don’t know, Ms. Smith,” Kash added.

“Oh, my god,” she shook her head. “Ok, where is he again?”

  “Grady,” Gangsta answered.

“Ok, I’m heading there now,” Ms. Smith replied. Kash and Gangsta left after telling her to call as soon as she knew something.

  NeNe

Erica walked into the living room with a robe wrapped around her body. Her hair was wild from a long night of
sex, and her face was swollen from sleeping with it smashed into the pillow. NeNe looked at her sister and shook her head at the sight.

Erica took a seat in the recliner. She ran her fingers through her hair before saying, “Kash’s homeboy got shot last night. I mean, this morning.”

NeNe’s heart dropped to her stomach.

“So, that’s why Kash was in a rush,” she said out loud to herself.

She remembered she was just with his friend. She was waiting for his call, and now she gets this news.

  “Is he okay?” she asked.

“The girl he was with got killed,” Erica replied. “You know the big dude who got into it last night?”

Erica grabbed a bag of weed off her table while shaking her head. She placed it in a glass bowl and placed a top on it.

“Oh, okay, I know who you talking about.”

NeNe remembered and was kind of happy it wasn’t Gangsta, because he seemed cool. Even though she was picky, she chose him and his swagger, so she was back to waiting on his phone call.

“Yeah, I wonder was it ‘bout last night?” Erica wanted to know.

She sat the bowl under the table, knowing Kash would be soon looking for it.

“Girl, I hope not,” NeNe replied.

She would hate to be a part of that type of drama. That’s why she rarely did clubs, and last night was all Erica’s idea. NeNe would rather sit home and watch movies versus hanging out and spending money she truly didn’t have.

NeNe and her sister sat around while they talked and watched TV. Erica was so sprung on Kash that she couldn’t stop bringing him up in conversation. NeNe just laughed, but she listened. Her mind was also consumed with Kash’s friend Gangsta. She liked how he had pushed up on her yesterday at the club. She liked how aggressive he became and how he would not give up until he got what he wanted. NeNe still played hard to get, but gave in at the last minute. She was glad she did, because he most definitely was her type.
